Academic Interests

My main interests are in normative political theory, particularly on the following topics:

• public reason / public justification (e.g. convergence vs. consensus models, the history of the idea, its relationships with pluralism, toleration, and contractarianism/contractualism, its implications for egalitarianism and social justice)
• democracy (e.g. epistemic / instrumental vs. intrinsic / non-instrumental justifications of democracy, its role in legitimating political authority)
• social justice (e.g. distributive vs. relational, desert, reciprocity)
• varieties of liberalism (e.g. classical, libertarian, and egalitarian)

I currently working on a project on the role of reciprocity in conceptions of justice.
